Double Seal Vs Triple Seal – Which one is right for you?

Recessed manhole covers are a practical solution with a great decorative profile. Our aluminium covers are not only much more cost effective than steel but also have a high weight bearing capacity whilst maintaining a sleek and stylish aesthetic. Plus they’re suitable for indoor and outdoor use! But, when it comes to choosing the right cover for your project, you might hear us talking about double sealed and triple sealed covers, so what’s the difference and which one is right for you?

Double vs Triple

Both covers are odour and waterproof. The double sealed cover is self-secure by the weight of the infill whereas the tripe sealed cover is locked in the corners with four screws. Typically, the double sealed cover is used for outdoor projects as the materials used for infilling tend to be heavier and therefore secure the cover in place. This also tends to be the most cost effective option.

For indoor use we recommend the triple sealed model, this is screw sealed and locked on all four corners with an additional grit seal to prevent any debris between the cover and frame. This also ensures it is fully waterproof and odour proof to prevent any nasty drain smells creeping indoors!

Both types of covers can be installed with our 4 step guide, the trick is to level the cover with the floor before you secure the mortar so make sure you’ve got a good spirit level!
